GA Trump backers mostly untroubled by reported "sh##hole" quote

Dent Myers is a Trump supporter who runs a Civil War shop in Kennesaw.

ATLANTA -- Many of President Trump’s fiercest supporters are untroubled by his reported description of Haiti and African countries as "sh#tholes." To his backers, this stuff is just Trump being Trump.

"He’s totally right," said Poppy Nelson, a Kennesaw supporter of Trump. He was visiting Wildman's, an eye-opening Civil War shop in downtown Kennesaw. It's a place where you may not hear the language of diplomacy.

"Because you have people coming in from undeveloped countries that don’t even want to learn English," Nelson said "and they try to impose their religion upon us."

A nominal supporter of President Trump, US Senator Johnny Isakson took issue with his reported remark about Haiti and African countries. “I did not hear it, but if it’s true, he owes the people of Haiti and all of mankind an apology…He ought to be ashamed of himself."

Many of Trump’s supporters actually like his willingness to be offensive. Dent Myers owns the civil war store. "The people who get offended need it," Myers said.

One of Trump’s biggest backers is Senator David Perdue, who was in the White House meeting. He issued a statement saying “(I) do not recall the President saying these comments specifically but what he did call out was the imbalance in our current immigration system, which does not protect American workers and our national interest.”
