Breakfast: The key to keeping Olympians powered up, ready to compete

Winter Olympians face long hard days of training in bitterly cold conditions. So they need to choose the most nutritious foods to fuel their quest for the gold.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado has sent more athletes to the winter Olympics than any other city in the U.S.

While attending the Steamboat Springs Weather Summit, 11Alive Meteorologist Samantha Mohr met with a three time Olympian, Caroline Lelive.

Lelive competed at the Olympics in Women’s Alpine, which is comprised of five separate events: Downhill, Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super Combined, and Super G. These five events require the right nutrition to power down the slopes, and the day should start with a good breakfast.

Caroline Longline Lalive shares her tips on fueling up for the slopes from her Colorado kitchen.
