Man dies in late-night Carroll Co. house fire

Carroll County Fire Chief Scott Blue said the fire started in the back porch of the home and said no foul play is suspected.

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — A local man died in a Carroll County house fire late Wednesday night.

Around 9 p.m. Wednesday, the Carroll County Fire Department was called to a house fire in the area of Holiday Drive and Holly Tree Drive.

Carroll County Fire Chief Scott Blue said the fire started in the back porch of the home and said no foul play is suspected. A cause has yet to be determined and Chief Scott noted there were multiple propane tanks in the home.

Officials located the victim, 57-year-old Tim Allan Horvath in the back bathroom, Scott said. Horvath was also the one who called 911.

Firefighters removed him from the home but were not able to resituate him and he died at the scene. A neighbor told 11Alive Horvath was disabled.
