ATLANTA -- A smoky garbage fire underneath a railroad trestle in northeast Atlanta gave some rush hour motorists uneasy thoughts of last year's I-85 bridge fire and collapse early Friday morning.

The fire happened off of Cheshire Bridge Road near its intersection with Lenox Road before 7 a.m. The area is not far from the location where a fire destroyed a bridge section of Interstate 85 and caused a month-long closure and reconstruction more than a year ago.

Crews from the Atlanta Fire Department were able to quickly extinguish Friday morning's blaze, and no injuries were reported.

As 11Alive has previously reported, homeless locals usually congregate underneath those railroad trestles and it has been the site of other similar trash fires in the past.
