16-month-old's murder connected to cold case

It's the latest horrific chapter for the family of that baby boy.

LAS VEGAS — An Atlanta man is behind bars in Las Vegas after police say he beat his girlfriends' 16-month-old baby to death.

The man who allegedly did it, 34-year-old Antonio Bridges, is being held without bail in the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Las Vegas Police say Bridges, a convicted felon, brought 16-month-old Mark Phillips, Jr. to the hospital last week with serious injuries. Three days later, baby Mark died.

But that's not the latest horrific chapter for the family of that baby boy.

Just last year, the child's father, 34-year-old Mark Phillips, was also brutally murdered here in the metro area, a murder that remains unsolved.

11Alive's Ryan Kruger covered a vigil on the one-year anniversary of the 34-year-old's murder in January.

Back then, family told him that having a son was Phillips' lifelong dream. It came true with the birth of Mark Phillips, Jr. But that fairytale quickly turned tragic with the 34-year-old's death.

Shortly after, Phillips' wife Natalie Miller and baby Mark packed up and left town.

Now, family is left coping with two horrific killings of a father and son, and a search for justice.

Bridges is set to face a judge in Clark County, Nevada on Monday.

Meanwhile, investigators are still searching for suspects in the murder of Phillips, Sr. 11Alive was unable to track down Natalie Miller. Police aren't saying whether there's any connection between the two murders.
