Investigation continues into Loganville house fire that began on the porch, then spread

The family was renting the house and had been there for less than a year.

LOGANVILLE, Ga. -- The investigation continues into a Saturday afternoon Loganville house fire that injured a small child and displaced an entire family.

The fire began on a porch of a Rozena Place home that Jeremy and Elizabeth Cotherman and their three young children were renting.

A 911 caller reported the fire and told firefighters that all of the residents were out of the house. But one child was treated on scene and released for unspecified injuries.

Fire officials said an adult occupant told them he saw a “flicker” from the front of the home, and then found the front porch on fire. He quickly retrieved a fire extinguisher and attempted to extinguish the flames. When the fire extinguisher was unsuccessful, he evacuated the three children from the home.

The Cothermans had been in the house for less than a year.
