Atlanta had record-breaking rainfall on Monday

Monday's old rainfall record dates to 1883.

ATLANTA - According to the National Weather Service, we had record-breaking rainfall on Monday, April 24.

Atlanta had 4.16 inches of rain on Monday, which breaks the previous record of 2.4 inches which was set back in 1883.

That was 135 years ago!

This makes some sense considering much of metro Atlanta saw significant flooding and ponding on the roadways Monday and Tuesday.
