CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. – A family is actively searching for their loved one, who's been missing for seven weeks.
Vince League is a father of two, a self-employed maintenance man, cheerful, and has lots of friends. However, League’s friends and family in Carroll County have not had any contact with him since March 4.
They told 11Alive on Tuesday they’re frightened and worried, especially since investigators cannot rule out foul play.
“We have no clues,” Vereena Hollingsworth, League’s sister, said.
League vanished from his home near Carrollton where he, Hollingsworth, and their brothers all grew up. Hollingsworth said the TV and light were on inside his home, and his pickup truck was in the driveway outside, and the gate near the street was closed.
Family and friends have put up a reward fund for help finding League, and it’s up to $6,000.
The 53-year-old is the father of two sons in their early 20s, Sampson and Gabriel. Their mother, Amy, and League are no longer together, but the families are still close, and Amy and Vereena sat next to each other on the front porch and held each other's hands tightly as Vereena talked with 11Alive about her brother, and Amy fought back tears--everyone is heartsick with fear and worry.
“[He was] always smiling if he has a penny, smiling if he don’t,” Hollingsworth said. “He was always a joy to be around.... He just had lots of friends that would come by and see him, there was always people in and out, just coming by to say hello. He enjoyed that.”
Hollingsworth said League would not have missed their mother’s birthday.
“Our mother’s birthday was March the 19th, and he would, even if he was on a trip, he would have called and wished her a happy birthday,” she said.
That is one of the troubling aspects of this case, said Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Captain Jeff Richards.
“A lot of his things that he’s always done over his lifetime have changed, and not done, so that really concerns us,” Captain Richards said.
Capt. Richards said investigators are not ruling out foul play, but still don’t know who would want any harm to come to League.
“We are praying,” Hollingsworth said. “The days seem like years.”
So, the rolling hills and woodlands, the winding roads and people of Carroll County may hold secrets that League’s family is desperate to discover. They want to find League and bring him home safely to them.
"If people could just think back to March 4," Hollingsworth said, "if you saw him with somebody, anybody that travels up and down this road [Horsley Mill Road], around the stores, if anybody seen anything, please let us know."
