22nd Annual Pan-African Festival to take place in Central City Park

The festival starts on Saturday and will feature cultural performances and food.

The 22nd Annual Pan African Festival kicks off Saturday and Sunday at a new location.

The event has previously been held in Cherry Street Plaza, but the Tubman Museum said the festival has outgrown that area.

This year, the festival will be held in Central City Park.

This theme is ‘Homecoming’ to signify the festival returning to the park where it started 22 years ago.

There will be a car show, bounce houses for kids, and over 100 vendors.

The Caribbean Dancers of Atlanta will be performing Saturday, and funk band Midnight Star will close out the night.

Sunday is Praise Fest and will feature performances from many gospel singers and groups.

Harold Young, Director of Special Events at the Tubman Museum, said they couldn’t have done it without their volunteers.

“We thank God for our volunteers, because we couldn’t do it without our volunteers,” Young said. “There’s only 9 people that run the Tubman, and we can’t do this alone.”

The event starts Saturday at noon and Sunday at 2 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. VIP tickets are $10 for one day and $15 for both days.
