A jury has convicted two DeKalb County gang members of murder and a third of aggravated assault in the death of two women who insulted the gang's leader.
According to the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office, 24-year-old Demetre "Flame" Mason and 25-year-old Frankland "Bad News" Henderson gunned down the young women after they allegedly called the leader of the 9 Trey Bloods gang a name.
Gang members responded by beating 20-year-old Shaniqua Camacho and 21-year-old Sonia Williams inside the home where the argument began on Shell Bark Road. The victims escaped but were chased in a car by the now-convicted men and a third - 24-year-old Michael "Slim" Jenkins who was later convicted of aggravated assault.
Henderson and Mason, who was dating one of the victims, then exited the vehicle and opened fire on the two women killing them. Their bodies were found the next day by a neighbor.
For the 2014 crime, both Henderson and Mason were convicted of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, violation of the street gang terrorism and prevention act and weapon offenses.
A fourth suspect, Malcolm "Dot" Brown, will be prosecuted at a later date.
