Arrest made after 1 killed, another injured in Midtown double shooting

The shooting happened at 633 Parkway Drive shortly after 9 pm.

ATLANTA — Police say they've made an arrest in a shooting that left one person dead and another hurt.

The shooting happened in Midtown Saturday, April 21 at 633 Parkway Drive shortly after 9 p.m., police said.

According to police, officers responded to the shooting to find one of the men shot and unresponsive. Grady EMS arrived to the scene, but pronounced 32-year-old Patrick Belton dead.

Detectives interviewed witnesses at the scene, who told them there was a large group of men gambling in front of the apartment complex.

Police say Belton and another man got into an argument that escalated to gunfire.

Shortly after the shooting, police said a man turned up at Grady with non life-threatening gun shot wounds and refused to cooperate with investigators. At the time, officers did not know if he was connected to the shooting.

Nearly a month after the incident, investigators said they were able to gather enough probably cause evidence to charge Gregory Oliver with murder for Belton's death.

Oliver was taken into custody May 11 and booked into the Fulton County Jail.
