Who has some of this year's back-to-school sales?

Without the tax-free weekend to help with the back-to-school shopping, what is a parent going to do on that last weekend before school starts?
Tax-free weekend

Are you ready to send the kids back to school?

Well, given that school doesn't start for anyone for a couple of weeks yet, you can presume that no one is yet.

This marks yet another year that Georgia has done away with its tax-free holiday, which eliminates the special savings weekend that consumers had looked forward to before the start of school. The annual holiday allowed them to save up to 10 percent on the purchase of school clothing, supplies and some electronic equipment.

As a result, there is an even greater concern on the part of consumers regarding back-to-school sales from major retailers as parents search for clothing and school supply deals before the kids hop on the school bus.

At many of the local stationery and bookstores, schools will post supply lists so that parents can buy the supplies their little ones need. Because Georgia schools return to the classroom so early as compared to other areas around the nation, shoppers here can actually take advantage of the back-to-school sale prices long after their kids have returned.

Here's a list of stores that have released sales information so far this season. There are additional retailers who may release back-to-school sales materials going forward.

In addition, several local stores provide official uniforms for those schools that require them. Your best course of action is to contact the school directly, as each school has contracts with specific stores to provide the uniforms they require. Many of those specialty stores do offer discounts and sales just before and just after the beginning of school.
