Cop's leg broken after woman rams vehicle into him, flees scene, police say

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A Clayton County Police officer suffered a broken leg after authorities said he was hit by a fleeing vehicle early Monday morning.

Clayton County Police responded to a fight call around 1:10 a.m. at a home on the 1800 block of Marceau Drive in Conley, GA.

Nelly Miles with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations said when officers arrived, they noticed a woman attempted to leave the scene. The woman hit an officer with her car leaving him with a broken leg. According to the GBI, the officer was pinned between another patrol car and her vehicle.

Authorities fired shots at the vehicle. It was found about a mile away from the neighborhood.

A man who lives in the area said this isn't the first time incidents have happened.

"It’s quiet, it’s peaceful, a majority of the time," Keith Furlow said. "But that one house where all those kids be at. We have seen kids running back and forth through the houses. There’s been a couple of break-ins now. I mean, it’s crazy."

The officer is being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital. Investigators have not identified the woman who was driving.
