Forsyth County SWAT standoff ends in arrest after strange call about possible hostage situation

The caller also reported having several guns. Now authorities are unclear exactly what kind of situation they're dealing with.

A SWAT standoff that lasted for hours Tuesday is now over.

Teams from both Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and North Fulton entered the house and took the suspect in custody.

SWAT officers were called out to a Forsyth County subdivision after reports of a hostage situation took an unusual turn Tuesday morning.

According to Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Doug Rainwater, 911 dispatch got a call from the Whittington Townhome community in southern Forsyth County around 9 a.m. The caller, a man, claimed that he was being held hostage in one of the homes.

The man maintained contact with 911 dispatchers but would not respond when deputies first arrived at the scene. Rainwater said that he then told dispatchers that he had multiple guns. A man was also spotted in the back of the house leading to questions of whether there was actually a hostage situation in the first place.

The roads Prestwyck Court and Annazanes Court where they connect to Bendleton Trace were closed and according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the school district made arrangements for the students affected to be picked up from school by their parents.
