ATLANTA -- Early voting is off to a rough start in Fulton County due to a technical issues impacting multiple polling locations.
Lovie Riley says several early voters left as soon as they walked into Adamsville Recreation Center. "They saw the line and immediately went back out the door," Riley told 11Alive's Elwyn Lopez.
Bernies R. Davis says, "We got here about about ten past ten and we are still here. It's twelve. It's never this long, ever." Davis asked the polling station manager why there were such long lines, and she says he told her there were only "two examiners" and "two machines that were also down, as well."
In a statement from the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections, the county said that polling spots at libraries are experiencing some sort of technical issue with the county network. The result is that the county is unable to quickly verify voter registrations.
At least one polling station in the county had issues with a server, run by a private company. That server is designed to make the check-in process faster by scanning voter's IDs. Due to it not functioning at its normal capacity, poll workers had to manually check-in early voters.
The good news, the county said, is that residents were still able to vote. But the check-in process is being done manually, which caused long wait times.
Fulton County's technical issues were resolved early afternoon. All polling stations are back to normal.
Monday was the first day of early voting in Georgia.
