A state investigation into rape allegations has led to one arrest in north Georgia.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported that on Nov. 13, the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office arrested 33-year-old Jose Luis Amaro Vazquez of Mexico while he was in Dahlonega.

The arrest came after an investigation in October where Vazquez was accused of multiple crimes. The agent in charge of the case was able to corroborate those claims with the help of a bilingual detective from the Gainesville Police Department.

Vazquez is now charged with two counts of rape, two counts of child abuse and a single count of false imprisonment. He's now being held in the Lumpkin County jail.

State agents will hand over the case to the Enotah Judicial Circuit District Attorney for prosecution once the investigation ends.
