35-year-old woman transported after being shot in the side

Police still have no motive or suspects.

Atlanta Police say a woman was seriously hurt after being shot Sunday night.

According to authorities, officers responded to 1190 Metropolitan Pkwy near the Atlanta Food Mart around 5:30 Nov. 18 for reports of a person shot.

They found a 35-year-old woman, later identified as Shalanda Edwards, shot in the side.

EMS took her to Grady Hospital for treatment. While she was breathing, Atlanta Police said she was not alert.

According to an incident report from police, when officers got to the scene, they found a black Honda Civic had been shot four times on the driver's side.

One witness told police that he had just pulled into the parking lot when he saw the Honda also pull into the lot. The witness told police he saw the passenger get out of the car, then the woman roll out of the driver's seat. When he heard that she had been shot, the witness immediately called 911.

Police tried to speak to other witnesses, but they were not able to give a description of the gunmen or a possible escape vehicle. Investigators also were unsuccessful pulling surveillance video from the business and an adjacent Chevron gas station.

Police are still working the investigation and still have no suspects or a motive in the shooting.
