Buford woman turns 100 years old

Buford resident Vera Woodburn celebrates her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends

BUFORD, Ga. — A large crowd gathered at the Buford Senior Center today, for Vera Woodburn's 100th birthday.

Woodburn was surrounded by five generations of family members and all those who love her at the senior center.

Born in Jamaica, Woodburn has been living in Gwinnett County since 1972.

Today, family from across the United states and even Canada came to surprise her.

Dressed in her favorite color, red, Woodburn danced with some of her favorite dance partners at Buford Senior Center, which is one of the many things she loves to do.

"Here she loves to play bingo and she loves to play card games and dominoes and she loves to dance," said Woodburn's daughter, Beverly Woodburn.

Woodburn's daughter has been working on this surprise for her mother since September of last year.

According to Woodburn, she says although there isn't a secret to life, you must love God and be grateful for God's blessings.
