DECATUR, Ga. — Students at Ronald McNair Middle School in Decatur were evacuated Tuesday morning after a gas leak was found on school property.
The school is located on Wallingford Drive.
School officials said about 700 students were taken to nearby McNair High School.
Officials told 11Alive that the gas leak had been capped, but as a result of the leak, there was no gas service to the school.
For that reason, school officials said they would keep the McNair Middle School students at McNair High School for the remainder of the day while repairs take place at the middle school.
