Driver impaled after crash near subdivision under construction

It happened Feb. 10 between 4 and 7:30 a.m.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Officials say a driver was impaled after a crash Sunday morning.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, the crash happened Feb. 10 between 4 and 7:30 a.m.

Police say the driver, 33-year-old Darius J. Sanders, was driving his Chevy Malibu south on Twisted Oak Lane off Jamerson around that time. Authorities say a subdivision is under construction there, and somehow Sanders' car collided with a "metal" arm, which went through the car and pierced Sanders.

He died from his injuries.
