Investigation finds source of Lawrenceville apartment fire

While they know where it started, the inquiry of what caused the blaze continues.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Fire investigators now know where a fire at a Lawrenceville apartment complex started over the weekend.

While ultimate cause of the fire is still undetermined, investigators have ascertained that the fire started in the closet of a unit near the rear of the building.

The Saturday fire at the Atlantic Sweetwater apartment complex on the 3500 block of Club Drive displaced 11 families, but did not injure any people or pets.

By the time the fire was under control, multiple units had been deemed a total loss with others also taking smoke, heat and water damage. In all, about 31 people lost their apartments - many of which met with the American Red Cross for assistance.
