Man missing for nearly two weeks found dead in backyard of DeKalb County home

William ‘Fred’ McCrary, 40, was found dead in a backyard in Lithonia nearly 2 weeks after his family reported him missing.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A man who family members called a “loving father and devoted son” was found dead on Friday, Feb. 15, nearly two weeks after he was reported missing, according to DeKalb County Police.

Fred McCrary’s family reported him missing on Feb. 6. Police sad his body was found in the backyard of a home on New Castle Circle, in Lithonia.

The 40-year-old man was reported missing by his sister after she lost contact with him and calls and texts were not returned.

DeKalb County Police said McCrary’s death and the circumstances of it are still under investigation.
