A SWAT team was called in after a couple's dispute escalated to a shooting in Southwest Atlanta and left several residents standing outside, according to police.
Atlanta police said they got a call around 9:30 p.m. Thursday to an apartment complex off Continental Conoly Parkway.
When police arrived they said they heard two gun shots. They discovered those shots were fired into a nearby car.
They thought the man who they believe was shooting ran back into the apartment. When authorities received a search warrant they found he wasn't inside.
Upon further investigation, Lieutenant Robert Albertini discovered that the couple had been together for nearly 20 years and share a "number" of kids together. Police said the man recently lost his job, and they believe that caused the dispute to escalate.
Police said no one was injured in the shooting. The woman is safe and police are still looking for the suspect.
