CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A rural highway is now open again after a tractor-trailer spilled a large load along the side. But the aftermath will likely leave motorists with a smell they will never forget.

Authorities in Cherokee County initially warned drivers to stay away from Highway 369 near Yellow Creek Road due to an overturned truck that was filled with what the sheriff's office described as "chicken guts."

The good news for motorists is that the road has since been cleared. The bad news, however, is that continued roadside cleanup will mean intermittent closures to start the holiday weekend.

Their post on social media brought several comments from the community - one of them from a man claiming to have experience transporting these animal parts in big rigs.

"I've hauled a few loads of that stuff," he said. "They'd better move fast, it ain't gonna get no better."

Investigators haven't yet released what caused the crash or the condition of the driver.
