BALDWIN, Ga. — For 15 years, a 200 square foot outbuilding sat along a rural highway in Baldwin Georgia. But before the night was over on Friday, it was completely gone.

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John King's office now says the destruction of that building has been ruled arson - and the agency is offering up to $10,000 for answers.

The fire happened just after 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 8 in Banks County at 1471 Highway 198. And investigation reveals it was intentionally set.

"The power was cut off to the outbuilding at the time the fire started," Commissioner King said. "Thankfully, the fire was contained to only the outbuilding and did not spread to the residence on the property."

While investigators do believe the fire was arson, they haven't publicly announced whether they've identified suspects in the case or if there is any surveillance video available.

As the investigation continues, Banks County Fire and Emergency is also assisting. Anyone with information that may crack the case is asked to call the Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800-282-5804. Callers can leave tips 24 hours a day and can also choose to remain anonymous.

The $10,000 reward applies to information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
